Given our donor's commitment to creating change in their home state, Oregon will be a key focus of this work, alongside other strategic locations across the country. We're seeking a Campaign Coordinator to lead this exciting initiative, with a preference for candidates based in Oregon to help build strong local connections and lead our advocacy efforts in the state. Job Title: Campaign Coordinator - Municipal Advocacy Initiative

Organization: OPEN (Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-monogamy)

Position Type: Part-time (0.7 FTE)

Timeline: Anticipated start date Jan. 6, 2025. This is a one-year position ending Dec. 2025, with the possibility of continuation based on funding availability.

Location: Preference for a candidate based in Oregon

Position Overview:

OPEN seeks a dynamic and organized Campaign Coordinator to lead our Municipal Advocacy Initiative. This groundbreaking campaign aims to pass non-discrimination protections for non-monogamous individuals and diverse family structures across multiple U.S. cities. The ideal candidate will have experience in legislative advocacy, community organizing, and coalition building.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Organizing 

    1. Lead the strategic planning and implementation of municipal advocacy campaigns in target cities.

    2. Coordinate with local organizers, providing resources, training, and ongoing support throughout the legislative process.

    3. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local community leaders, legislators, and coalition partners.

    4. Organize and facilitate community meetings and training sessions in target cities.

  2. Legislative Advocacy

    1. Work with legal partners to oversee the drafting and adaptation of legislation for each target city.

    2. Track progress of legislation in each city and adjust strategies as needed.

    3. Prepare regular reports on campaign progress and outcomes.

    4. Travel to target cities as needed for community meetings, legislative sessions, and other campaign activities.

  3. Comms and Fundraising

    1. Collaborate with OPEN's communications team and PR firm to develop and execute media strategies.

    2. Assist in fundraising efforts to support the campaign.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in legislative advocacy, community organizing, or political campaigns

  • Strong understanding of municipal legislative processes and grassroots organizing

  • Experience working with diverse communities, preferably including LGBTQ+ or other marginalized groups

  • Familiarity with non-monogamy and diverse family structures is a plus

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently

Required Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Public speaking and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain coalitions

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, project management tools, and social media platforms

  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills

Compensation:

  • The compensation range for this role is $42,000-$49,000.

  • As a young nonprofit organization, OPEN is regrettably not able to provide benefits. The compensation range for this role has been adjusted upward to account for this.
