Introduction
We created this toolkit to help community leaders, creators, and more encourage their community or audience to get involved with the growing non-monogamy movement. Because building people power is essential to our mission to advance rights and acceptance for non-monogamous families and relationships, so by encouraging your community to connect with OPEN, you’ll be contributing to a growing grassroots movement that’s making real progress towards a more accepting and inclusive future for diverse family and relationship structures.
Within this resource you’ll find graphics, sample posts that you can use on social media, email, Discord, or wherever else your community gathers. If you’re posting publicly, tag us @openloveorg (Facebook, IG, Threads, and X) so that we can share and signal-boost your post! About OPEN
OPEN (Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-monogamy) is an advocacy nonprofit working to advance cultural acceptance and legal rights for non-monogamous families and relationships. Our vision is for a future where all family and relationship structures are accepted, respected, and protected. OPEN’s work focuses on three core strategies:
Support non-monogamous communities and individuals through educational resources and spaces like our free, twice-monthly peer support circles.
Promote visibility and acceptance of non-monogamous families, relationships, and communities through media and education, as well as programs like the global Week of Visibility for Non-monogamy.
Build grassroots movement power to advance legal protections and remove systemic barriers. This includes legislative advocacy to pass non-discrimination protections, and our Open Workplaces Initiative to advance inclusion and acceptance for non-monogamous professionals in the workplace.
We believe that non-monogamous people deserve a voice in the cultural conversation and a seat at the political table. We also believe that the non-monogamous community can be a powerful force in advocating not only for our own rights and protections, but also for intersecting justice issues from LGBTQ+ rights to reproductive justice and more. Finally, we believe that the values and skills centered in non-monogamy––including communication, community, compassion, connection, and consent––are essential to building a more just and joyous world for all.

Non-monogamy is having an exciting moment, with a surge in visibility and attention. Thanks to excellent resources, educators, advocates, and communities, people are exploring diverse relationships and connections like never before.
But non-monogamous families and individuals still encounter significant social stigma and systemic barriers. From community and family rejection to loss of housing or employment and much more, experiences of marginalization and discrimination are all too common.
We can create a future where all forms of relationships are recognized and respected. But doing so demands meaningful, organized action to change societal norms and laws.
This is where OPEN comes in. OPEN is an advocacy nonprofit working to advance cultural acceptance and legal rights for non-monogamous families and relationships. OPEN has already made big strides, from passing non-discrimination protections to organizing a global Week of Visibility (July 15-21, 2023).
I’m encourage you to join this effort by signing up for OPEN's email list at www.open-love.org/join. Your involvement will help build the people power behind the growing movement to normalize non-monogamy.

Today I wanted to share some thoughts about non-monogamy as a movement and encourage you to get involved with OPEN, an organization that’s fighting for rights and acceptance for non-monogamous families and relationships of all varieties.
Non-monogamy is experiencing a pivotal moment, with the last few years bringing a surge in interest and attention. There are countless fantastic books, insightful content creators, and vibrant local communities helping people from all walks of life explore new modes of relationship and connection.
But despite how far we’ve come, non-monogamous people still face significant societal stigma and systemic barriers. People can lose their jobs, face family and community rejection, and too many more forms of discrimination or marginalization – all because of how they structure their families and relationships.
This isn’t something we should just take for granted. We can create a future where all families and relationships are valued. But achieving this will require more than just talking about acceptance. We need to organize and advocate to change culture and laws at scale.
That’s why I want to spotlight OPEN [@openloveorg / www.open-love.org], an advocacy nonprofit working to advance rights and acceptance for non-monogamous families and relationships. They’ve helped to pass non-discrimination protections for diverse family and relationship structures, launched a global Week of Visibility for Non-monogamy (July 15-21, 2024), created a ton of great educational resources, and more.
